Power Point introducing students to the Brain Brights reading skills Bookmarks and reading strategies.
The Power Point walks them through how to use the bookmarks and teaches them tools to help them become better readers.
Brain Brights Bookmarks make an excellent addition to Reading Workshops, independent reading activities, and any other reading activity through the year.
Helps young readers remember helpful skills as they are reading.
Keeps young readers accountable and active during their reading sessions.
Perfect companion to reading skills taught for state assessment standards.
Laminate and leave the white paper on the left side for hole punching so students can keep it in their three ring binders!
Have students review which skills they practiced from the bookmarks during independent reading. They could write in their journal or do a quick 3-sentence summary of what they learned or practiced.
Make sure to print front and back so that they have one bookmark that utilizes the skills and reminds them of help should they get stuck.
Have students use a sharpie (oh the joy of using the forbidden for a moment!) to check off skills as they learn them in class so they know which skills they should be using and practicing!
Best thing... at the end of the year they can take them with them and use them as they do their summer reading (because they all do that right??) and they can come in handy for the following grades.
