Display calendar pieces on a classroom bulletin board for discussion each day as the volume increases with the date. Through short daily discussion and modeling students learn how to calculate volume. This calendar is designed to give students small daily exposure of volume calculation. Using the interactive pages each student calculates and records the volume for each day including weekends (catch-up weekends on Mondays). The total volume will be always equal to the date. The objective of this month long activity is for students to recognize the length, width, height and apply it in an equation to find the volume of rectangular prisms made of cubes. After a few days into the month students should be able to complete this daily task accurately.
