These cards are available as a special freebie. They are also a part of a larger product. Dance Your Spelling Words
The larger product includes the footprint cards in colors. It also include handprint cards (in color and b/w) that can be placed on a desk, table, wall, bulletin board, whiteboard, or even the floor. In addition to that are piano keyboards and individual hand cards which could be used whole class.
Preparation:Because these cards will get much physical abuse, you may want to print them on sturdy card stock and laminate them. Another option is to print them on paper (in black and white) and replace them each time you want to plan for the activity.
I am planning to laminate the footsteps, arrange them in a corner, then duct tape between and around them. I will use the colorful letters (sold in the larger set) with bright red duct tape! 26 cards (4inch by 5.5 inches) on 13 pages in color, 26 cards on 13 pages in black and white.
Set Up and Game Play:
Put the letter cards on the floor. (See picture.) Students spell out spelling and/or word wall words while stepping on each letter.
Variations:Students just tap each letter with their toe.
Students must use the correct foot (the one shown on the card) for each letter.
Students do an extra hop or other movement between letters.
Place the letter cards in random order on the floor.
