High school students love an argument-- why not harness that energy into a fiery and passionate classroom debate? With a partner, students get to argue for the salvation or damnation of Brutus or Cassius as Shakespeare characterizes them in his play, Julius Caesar. This takes the form of a public debate as students are pitted against a team arguing against their position. In supporting the character’s salvation or damnation, students will follow the debate outline provided. Each team is limited to a maximum of four minutes to advance their arguments. This resource includes easily adaptable instructions, a formal debate outline with example of opening and closing statements, scoring rubric and more!
