The darbouka is one of a group of goblet-shaped drums played throughout the Middle East, Turkey and North Africa. Historians think that these drums date back to Ancient Babylonia and that the name comes from the Arabic word “darba”, meaning "to strike".

This fun freebie is perfect for cultural studies, Middle Eastern regional studies or a music unit on drums, rhythm or world music instruments. It’s also a part of a larger mini-lesson for kids: Ancient Instruments From The Middle East - Mini-Lesson
