Darkness Before Dawn is the third book in the Hazelwood High trilogy by Ms. Draper. This is the senior year in high school for this tightly knit group of friends. All the friends are haunted from time to time by Robbie's death in the car accident, and Andy's subsequent suicide, especially Keisha who was Andy's girlfriend. Keisha is the major focal point of Darkness Before Dawn as she struggles to get on with her life after Andy. Males her own age seem silly and immature, so she is attracted to a very suave twenty-three year old son of the principal, Jonathon Hathaway. He treats her like a woman instead of a teenager. Keisha learns that the nicely wrapped package is a cover for a serious problem he has perpetrated on other young females. This discovery nearly pushes her back into the same darkness she experienced after Andy's death. The strong relationships of her friends and a homeless woman pull Keisha back to reality. This group of friends, having overcome a multitude of problems, now look forward to their lives after high school. They are all stronger and wiser for their experiences, and will always cherish their friendships.
Draper's books and my study materials help teens share similar experiences they have had, and thus seek support for their issues. (Feedback about this item is really appreciated, and I invite you to become a follower to receive notices of FREEBIES, SALES and newly posted products). Thank You!!!
