Data Analysis and Probability
Infuse your math curriculum with this excellent collection of 32 detailed lessons and activities that address Data Analysis and Probability. The Data Analysis activities in this group require students to formulate questions that can be answered using data and gather and use that data to make generalizations. Additionally, students learn how to collect data, organize data, and display data in graphs and charts and use that data in answering relevant questions. Probability activities are introduced in small groups and whole group discussions and include creative ways to introduce vocabulary words that are associated with probability, such as certain, impossible, less likely, equally likely, and more likely. Students also make decisions about events that are certain, impossible, less likely, equally likely, and more likely to occur.
Our instructional Data Analysis and Probability activities enable students to—
?Collect and sort data.
?Use organized data to construct real-object graphs, picture
graphs, and bar-type graphs.
?Draw conclusions and answer questions using information
organized in real- object graphs, picture graphs, and bar-type
?Identify events as certain, impossible, less likely, equally likely,
and more likely to occur, such as drawing a red crayon from a
bag of green crayons.
The activities can be used to Assess concepts, Introduce concepts, Review concepts, and to help students Retain the concepts that have been taught. Our Math Activities can be used in a variety of ways to “AIRR” out your math curriculum.
Section One contains a numbered list of activities. Each activity is explained using a step-by-step process identifying the group size and materials needed to complete the task. Some of the activities have matching activity cards and practice sheets which are found in Section Two, Activity Sheets. The top right side of each set of activity cards, and practice sheet corresponds with the matching activity number. An answer key is conveniently provided in Section Three.
