We know students need to write more, but making the time to give them feedback is always a challenge. The Data-Informed Writing Assessment activity allows you to involve students in writing more and tracking their own progress. This is a YEAR-LONG customizable writing assessment program in which students write in-class paragraphs, pieces, or essays. The writing prompt, focus, length, and frequency are all determined by the teacher.
The more students write, the better writers they will become. This activity allows for that. It also focuses on the writing as a whole, instead of isolating specific traits, concepts, or standards. Students are responsible to investigate and correct their own errors and are reminded to always do their best writing, no matter the activity.
The zipped file includes customizable student handout, with room to write up to 110 lines (if necessary). Also included is a customizable student run chart, a three-page teacher’s guide, and an 11-slide PowerPoint presentation to introduce the activity to the student.
