Dia de los Muertos, or "Day of the Dead," is a joyous holiday celebrated each year in Mexico. Although this is a holiday with ancient origins, it is becoming more widely celebrated each year. This is a great alternative to Halloween activities if you are not allowed to participate in them at your school!
This is a great presentation and activity set that can be used for a fun-filled day of learning, or broken up into an entire week of activities! These are activities that relate to writing (postcards, ofrenda), reading (reading comprehension passages & questions), math (papel picado symmetry), social studies (ofrendas can be made with historical figures), and art!
Included in this set are:
♦ A colorful presentation about Dia de los Muertos
*origins of the holiday
*the purpose of the holiday
*how it is celebrated
*foods of the holiday
*review questions for the class to participate in
♦ An activity packet filled with tons of great ideas, crafts, recipes, and more:
*Sugar skull activity (many variations) including SIX blank sugar skull designs for students to decorate
