***UPDATE*** October 2017
PicMonkey now only has a 7 day Free Trial, no longer do they allow Free Accounts! You can still have your students do the activity, BUT, ask them to take a screenshot to save their image. PicMonkey will try to make you pay for a membership when you download. So sorry for the extra step!!!
This activity is a great way to get students using technology, get them excited about Día de los Muertos, and incorporate a bit of writing in the target language, as well!
I designed this to be used as a sub plan, so students should be able to follow the clear, specific instructions without the help of a teacher.
Also, I am including both a PDF and a Word Document, so you can add or change things as needed.
This assignment has the students taking a selfie or uploading a selfie they already had onto PicMonkey.com, a free photo editing website. ***See note above***
From here, they can follow the step-by-step instructions to make themselves into a calavera!
Next, students will use the preterite tense to write 10 sentences about events in their lives. This could be easily modified!
