Two lists of vocabulary with some open sourced clip art pictures.
One side is Dia de los Muertos and the other side is Halloween. Organized by nouns, adjectives, and verbs, alphabetically. Stem-changes are noted for verbs. Irregular conjugations given for estar in present and preterite. El alma is discussed as a feminine noun taking the masculine article when singular, but feminine adjectives.
Suggestions for usage:
After teaching about Dia de los Muertos, have students create a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting the two holidays. Then have them write a brief composition: 1st paragraph describes Halloween; 2nd paragraph describes Dia de los Muertos; 3rd paragraph talks about similarities and differences. Have students practice present tense verbs and include words from the vocab lists.
