After all the fun Christmas activities, next up on the holiday list is the Día de los Santos Inocentes - Day of the Holy Innocents. This could also be used on April Fool's Day!
This authentic text can be used as one full class period and have rotating groups or "stations." It can also be used in a shorter amount of time by having groups read their section and present to the class. Either way, students will learn the top 15 pranks and jokes for Día de los Inocentes!
• Target Audience – Spanish I or II high school, 9th-12th grades
• Students Language Level – Students should be at a Novice Mid level
• Materials – The authentic text about the top 15 pranks of the Day of the Holy Innocents is broken up into sections. No changes were made to the text (although the introduction from the webpage is not included, and I did include extra photos to help with comprehension); students will see the text in its authentic form. I recommend printing a class set of the authentic text in color and keeping them in sheet protectors. Students will answer questions on their own worksheets. You can even keep the worksheets in sheet protectors and have students answer on their own paper.
