Dead Words Word Wall
Use these "rainbow words" to help eliminate overused dead words from student's writing. Students can use this word wall as a tool to help develop word choice and vocabulary. This word wall can easily be added into a writing binder, journal, or folder to use all year long. In my classroom, I printed out the word walls, taped them onto file folders, and laminated the file folders for durability.
"Dead words" included are: Walk, run, yell, whisper, big, small, happy, sad, angry, confused, nice, mean, pretty, scared, yummy, love, eat, hot, cool, bad, good, fun, got, and funny. Each dead word has 5 other words for the student to choose from.
I've included a color option and black and white option.
You also have the option to print the blank word walls and have students fill in their own words underneath each dead word as they discover new words!
