*This is a game that can be differentiated for all learners. You choose which cards to use,
based on the level of your group(s).
*The cards are color coded for blends, digraphs, vowels, and consonants for students to
have a visual of building their word.
*Copy and laminate the desired cards (you may want to make several copies of each sheet).
Directions for Play:
*7 cards are handed out to each player. The rest are put in a stack face down in the middle
of the group.
*Players look at their cards and see if they can create a word from their existing hand. If
so, they lay the word down and read it aloud to the group, who must verify it is spelled
correctly. (Lower players may want to have the
cards spread out in front of them, face up, to help, during the game)
*Players must use at least 3 cards to create a word.
*During each player’s turn, he/she draws a card from the stack and tries to complete a
word using that card and the cards in his/her hand. *Play continues until the first player runs
out of cards and is declared the winner!
