There are some students who just love to raise their hand to every question you
pose. They can be especially disappointed if they think they have a great answer
and they don’t get called on. Many kids can show a little reaction and move on.
Other kids may pout or call out, “I was gonna say that” or “you never call on me”.
This social story explains that the teacher does not need to know that you know
every answer. She just needs to know you know some of them. That’s why she
takes turns calling on students. The story acknowledges that students may still
feel disappointment and therefore goes over 6 strategies students can use to deal
with that disappointment. At the end is chart that you can print out and use for
