“Fear of the unknown” can be difficult for students as they move from one grade to another. This adorable book template will be just what you need to help introduce upcoming kindergarteners to first grade! Each page features fill-in the blank style text, adorable clipart, a box for a picture, and a cute border. After you have your current class of firsties complete these booklets, here are a few examples of how they can be used within your classroom…
-Leave one on each child’s desk during Open House the following year
-Pass them out on the first day of school and read them together
-Pair up with a kindergarten classroom. Have your firsties take some time to read the booklet they created to a kindergarten buddy. (Are you a kindergarten teacher? Ask a first grade teacher to have his/her class complete these so you can invite them to your room to share.)
There are 28 pages in this download. There are some duplicate pages for certain topics to account for gender differences (Ex: male or female principal, teacher, assistant principal) and other wording that might not apply to every classroom (Ex: the number of books allowed to be checked out from the library at a time, etc.). Before copying, read through and make sure you choose the pages that apply to your classroom.
Here are the topics covered in the booklet…
-Your Assistant Principal
