This product includes two graphic organizers to accompany the Dear Mr. Henshaw novel and the study of divorce.
The Anticipation Guide allows the students to answer statement prompts that are based on the major themes such as divorce, latch-key kids, and coming of age. The students will respond before and after they read the text.
The KWHL Chart can be used before, during and after the reading of the novel.
K stands for what the student KNOW about divorce.
W stands for what the students WANT to know about divorce.
H stands for HOW the students will answer their questions about divorce. These can include strategies and resources that the students will utilize to perform this task.
L stands for what the student LEARNED about divorce.
This packet also includes helpful tips on how to construct and implement Anticipation Guides and KWHL charts on your own for use with future studies within the classroom.
