PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary is a book about a young boy, Leigh Botts, who writes to his favorite author. In the book, we do not see Mr. Henshaw's responses, but through the use of inference, we see how Mr. Henshaw responded. Through Leigh's letters and his journal entries we are able to learn about his life from what he says and what he does not say.

→The 5 writing prompts included in the 2 newspapers include:
•Writing from the perspective of Mr. Henshaw. What does Mr. Henshaw think about Leigh's letters and his life?
•Leigh writes to Mr. Henshaw and asks him a series of questions for a project for school. Mr. Henshaw then asks Leigh some questions as well. I have included 8 of the questions Mr. Henshaw asked to Leigh. Answer these questions about yourself and your life.
• The lessons I have learned from writing to Mr. Henshaw, becoming an author and dealing with divorce. By: Leigh Botts
• Write a letter to your favorite author to explain why you like his/her writing style and his/her books.
• Leigh finds solace and comfort in a garden that has hundreds of butterflies in butterfly trees. Write about your special place and why you like this place.
