This is a fun lesson to do for the Christmas Holidays while teaching letter writing.
This also is used with the following stories that can be read:
My Penguin Osbert & The Longest Christmas List Ever.
The Students get to think of one item they really want this year from Santa and they use a graphic organizer to list details describing their item. Then they can use the broken down rough draft to write their wish list in a letter format to Santa. The parts are broken down- Santa Hat = heading, Santa Waving = Greeting, Santa Suit = Body of the letter, Santa legs= closing, and Santa Boots = Signature.
Then they can use the final copy paper to write their finished published piece to send off to Santa.
