Product Description
Is it the beginning of the school year? No matter how many years you have been teaching, the first week of every school year may still be overwhelming. This dear teacher resource will save you some first day prep time and help you know more about your new students.

Contents
Page 3 - My Teacher’s Portrait
Page 4 - Introduction
Page 5 - Self-Portrait
Page 6 - Things I love
Page 7 - Letter to My Teacher

I recommend using this activity together with the Dear Student resource (Download here). On page 3 (My Teacher’s Portrait), call your students one by one. Give each one of them 2-3 minutes. They draw you as you draw them (in Dear Student resource). You may ask them a few questions such as “How do you want me to call you?” or “How are you today?” But spend most of the time just observing their faces, intuitively sensing their condition, and drawing them. At the end of the activity, let them introduce themselves to class. Take their letter as you give yours to them. Listen to their introductions. Listen to their stories.

"Remember, you don’t fear people whose story you know. Real listening always brings people closer together. Trust that meaningful conversations can change your world. Rely on human goodness. Stay together.” - Margaret Wheatley

I’m with you on your journey as you spread love in your own classroom. Have a wonderful school year!

With love,
Ruby Jane ♥️

P.S. Save ink and paper. You may want to print the first four pages in quarters. That would be on page 8. Then at the back, print your letter (page 7). You can see a sample finished letter on page 9. ;)
