"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear." If we learn anything from Buddy the Elf, it's that singing brightens the soul.
These December bell ringers focus on figurative language in classic and modern winter holiday songs. I suggest using them as bell ringers because they only take a few minutes. Play the song that is featured on that day's bell ringer for students to enjoy, and while they listen, they can complete the bell ringer task. Grading is easy. The answer key is included. I give one point of extra credit to any student who answers correctly. A little bit of extra credit is another great way to spread holiday cheer!
Finally, I project the bell ringer of the day up on the board and briefly discuss it with students before moving on to the day's lesson. These bell ringer task cards are easy to implement, fun for students, and a perfect way to spread some Christmas cheer.
