This packet contains a word work literacy menu with 9 activities for the month of December. Many centers have more than one option for differentiating instruction. These centers are common core aligned specifically for Kindergarten, but may be used for Prekindergarten and/or struggling First Graders. The activities on the menu can be used as literacy centers, early finisher activities, or in small groups.
Rhyming Mittens: Find the matching rhyming words and clip together. This activity was designed to be used in the sensory table. If you do not have a sensory table you may use a sensory tub, bucket, or anything else you may have.
Christmas Tree Sort: Sort the picture cards by their middle sound and place underneath the appropriate Christmas Tree.
Whisper Words: Practice writing spelling words, sight words, etc. using whisper phones.
Christmas Syllables: Clap the word and clip a clothespin to the number that matches the number of syllables in the word.

Christmas Wreath Scramble: Match the unscrambled word to the scrambled word and clip together.
Spelling Chain: Practice writing spelling words, sight words, etc. on strips of red and green paper. Loop the strips of paper together to create a chain.
Read It, Make It, Write It: Students will practice reading and writing short e word family words—ed, et, and en. Depending upon the readiness of your students CVCC words are included.
Tree words: Practice writing spelling words, sight words, etc. by drawing a triangle and writing the first letter, then write two letters under the first letter, then three letters under that, then four letters under that to make a tree.
