December Holiday Celebrations and Traditions Around the World

This is an ELA CCSS Aligned Thematic Unit about December Holiday Celebrations and Traditions Around the World for Grades 2-3.The countries included are: Mexico, Brazil, Germany, France, Italy, England, Australia, and Israel. Students will learn about what holiday each country celebrates, how they celebrate it, and some interesting traditions. They will make a passport and fill out their passport by coloring the symbol and flag of each country and writing an interesting tradition after reading about each country. They will write subject poems about each country they visit and locate each country on a world map. There is a fun introduction activity and wrapping up the unit writing prompts, travel poster activity, and persuasive speeches. Lesson plans and CCSS included.
