I was looking for a way to change the way I did homework this year and had seen similar homework Bingo's on TPT but none that worked for my Special Education kids. So I decided to make my own! I wanted homework to be more functional for the students and flexible for the parents. I also needed something for my kids who lack fine motor skills and aren't able to complete typical worksheets on their own. This was a perfect solution!
The homework Bingo is divided into four categories: daily living, reading, math and technology. The daily living category includes things that are functional skills the students can learn to do at home (ex: fold clothes, tie shoes, etc.) The reading category includes functional reading skills that can be done at home (ex: read the days on a calendar, read a book, etc.) The math category also works on functional math skills that can be used at home (sorting money, telling time, etc.) The technology category has great links to kid-friendly websites. The fun thing about these activities is the QR code component. There are five weeks of activities included. Each week contains 2-3 QR codes that can lead to fun YouTube videos, online read aloud stories, yoga books and videos and more. My kids love using QR codes so why not include them in their homework.
I have included a parent letter to explain how the Bingo works, including how to access a QR code reader. I also included an editable version of the parent letter so you can customize it to meet your needs. The editable version will open in Microsoft Word. So far I have received very positive feedback from my parents on this version of homework. The parents like the flexibility and also the functional aspects of it.
Also included is a page with an answer key for you so you know what the QR codes link to. Please report any broken links to: KimberlyAPerry15@gmail.com I will do my best to make sure links are working at all times, however, due to website changes it is possible that they may break at some point.
