PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Stations Included: (Please note these do include Christmas clip art)

**Chimney Cover Up: Each player will take a game board. Students will take turns choosing a picture card from the deck. They will say the word and cover it on their board. The first player to cover their entire board is the winner! You could also do 3 in a row to win. (RF.1.2.B)

**Sight Word Slide: Students will put all cards in a cup or container. They will pass the container and pick one word out. If they read it correctly, they keep it. If they do not read it correctly, they put it back in the container. If a student gets the ‘Slide’ card, they have to put all of their words back into the container. Remind students that once their ‘Slide’ card is used, it does not go back in the container. The winner is the person with the most words when all cards are gone. (RF.1.3.G)

**That's a Match: Students will lay out the header cards- That’s a Match/ No Way. They will pick a card and read the word provided. They need to decide if the word matches the picture or not. After students sort the picture cards, they can choose 3 words that were not correct to fix and create sentences with those words. (RF.1.2.B)

**Catch that Cookie: Each player will put their game piece on the fox. You can use cubes or fun seasonal erasers. Students will place all blend cards in a pile face down. Students roll a dice and move that many spaces. If they land on a blank space, they will choose a blend card, say the words, and decide if they have the same beginning blend or not. If they land on a character space, they get to roll again! Students can use the recording sheet as they play or at the end. (RF.1.2.B)

**Mix and Fix Sentences: Students will sort cards by their picture. They will use cards with the same picture to create a sentence that makes sense. As they create each sentence, they should read it. Students will record their sentences on the sheet provided. The sentence cards can be used to differentiate for students who need support creating a good sentence. (RF.1.1)

**Fill the Bag: Students will place all cards face down in a pile or in a cup. Students will take turns choosing a card and reading it. If the word is real, they get to cover one of the candy pieces on their side of the game board. If the word is nonsense, they do not get to cover any. The first person to fill their bag is the winner! (RF.1.2.C)

**Pick a Present: Students will place one picture card in each row of the pocket chart. Students will stretch each word and build it using the present letters. After they have built all words, they can use the recording sheet to create sentences using some of the words from this activity. (RF.1.3.C)

**Christmas Countdown: Students will match each sentence to the correct picture. Words with more than one syllable are broken into parts using different colors. After students match the sentences, they can write words that have more than one syllable using different colors to show the syllables. (RF.1.3.E)
