Are you looking for some holiday-themed math centers for your first grade classroom? Here you go! I created these centers for my own first graders to review skills I've already taught and to reinforce the standards I will be teaching in December. In this set you will get EIGHT math centers to keep your firsties engaged and learning all month long! (And let's face it...in those long 3 weeks before the break engagement is KEY!)
The centers included are:
1.) Reindeer Rockin' Around The Clock: Students will practice telling time to the hour and half hour. You can separate the cards if your kids need extra practice with one or the other or you can mix them up. Three recording sheets are included depending on how you want your kids to play! Everything is also included in black and white as well as color. This center addresses 1.MD.B.3.
2.) What Time Is It, Mrs. Claus? Students will practice showing times to the hour and half hour. There are three spinners included so you can choose whether you want students to practice time to the hour, time to the half hour, or a mixture of both. A recording sheet and both black and white and color versions of the center materials are included. This center addresses 1.MD.B.3.
3.) Merry Measurement: Students will use linking cubes to measure various pictures and record their measurements. I included two versions. One version allows them to measure with their own linking cubes while the other provides a picture of cubes. A recording sheet is included and the center is also provided in black and white as well as color. This center addresses 1.MD.A.2.
4.) Place Value Presents: Students will turn over cards to find matches that include a base ten representation of a number, the numeral, and the number written as tens and ones. I provided two versions of this center. One focuses on the teen numbers and the other focuses on the decades. Two recording sheets are provided. This center is NOT included in black and white but if you are interested in me making it in black and white I will be happy to make it for you! This center addresses 1.NBT.B.2 with a special focus on elements B & C.
5.) Frosty's Family: Students will match up fact cards to a fact family before filling out a recording sheet. This center addresses 1.OA.C.6.
6.) Cookie Countdown: Students will place a set of cards in their correct order. There are three versions of this activity. One focuses on counting by 10s to 120, one gives students practice with counting by 5s to 120, and the third version provides practice for numbers 100-120. There is a recording sheet for each version. This standard addresses 1.NBT.A.1.
7.) Under The Mistletoe: Students will find the missing number in a part-part-whole relationship in order to fill in two addition and subtraction facts. There are two sets of cards included-one set uses sums equal to or less than 10 and the other is a more challenging set with numbers up to 20. Both color and black and white versions of this center are included along with a recording sheet. This center addresses 1.OA.D.8.
8.) Jingle Bell Rock Clip Cards: Students will use a clothespin or paper clip to clip the correct answer for addition and subtraction problems. I included sums and differences up to 10. This center is provided in both black and white as well as color and there is a recording sheet. This center addresses 1.OA.C.6.
Check out the preview file for a picture of what's included with each center! These centers do use Christmas clip art (nothing religious, but Santa Claus, elves, and other holiday-themed pictures are used). Please check out the preview file to make sure it's going to work for your classroom. Thanks for looking!
