This file includes 8 math tubs for the month of December. They include the following activities and skills:
**Piping Hot Place Value- Students will play a dice board game while matching a number and place value blocks on the given cards. 2 options included for differentiation. (1.NBT.2)
**No Sleep Subtraction- Students will choose a subtraction card and solve it using Christmas manipulatives. Students can record their number sentences on the provided recording sheet. A ten frame card is provided as well. Differentiation directions included.
**That's Snow True!- Students will sort the number sentences under the true/false headers. Students will use manipulatives to help solve each number sentence. A set of cards to differentiate is included. (1.OA.7)
**Trim the Tree- Students will play a memory game with a twist to complete an equation or to find two equations that are equal. 2 sets of cards included for differentiation. Ten frame mat included.
(1.OA.6 & 7)
**Ring the Bell- This is a partner game where students will each choose a card from the deck. They will compare their card to see whose number is larger. The person with the larger number gets to hold the bell and students continue to pass it after each round. The person with the bell at the end of the game is the winner. I plan to use a silver bell that I bought from the crafting section at Hobby Lobby. A recording sheet and 120 chart is provided. 3 differentiation options are included.
**Let's Add Ten!- Students will take a playing mat and a magnifying glass. They will look for an equation to solve and record. 120 chart and recording sheet included.
**Reindeer Line Up- Students will order sets of 6 numbers. Recording sheet, 120 chart, and option for differentiation included.
**Cover Five- Students will lay all playing cards face down. Partners will solve the equation by working together and will cover the answer on their game board if they have it. First player to cover 5 is the winner! Ten frame mat and recording sheet for differentiation included.
(1.OA.4 & 6)
