This product is the first in a series of monthly reading log and book response pages. My littles will complete these pages during their independent reading time...they will work with any book they are reading (fiction and nonfiction are included.) I included a cover page in case you want to staple the entire packet for your littles to work on throughout the month! This would also be perfect to put in a listening station, or buddy reading! Students could fill out the sheets together after they read a book together!
For kinder babies, or firsties who aren't yet reading, you could send the reading log home for parents to fill out and students can fill out the response sheets after class read alouds.
Here is what is included in the pack
Reading Log (There are two versions...one for students to write if it is fiction/nonfiction and the date, and one for younger learners who just write the title and rate the book...)
Sequence with Santa- Students write/draw about the beginning, middle, and end
It's My Favorite- Students draw their favorite part and write 3 reasons why they like it
How Does It Feel- Students draw/write about two events in the story and tell how the character was feeling
Let's Predict- Students draw/write what has happened so far in the book and then predict what will happen next
Character Chat- Students draw the main character and write words to describe them
Santa's Story Elements- Students write/draw about the characters, setting, problem, and solution
Christmas Comparing- Students compare 2 books in the venn diagram
Reindeer Rating- Students rate a book and give 3 reasons for their rating
Tracking My Thoughts- Students write/draw what they are thinking as they read a book
Time to Visualize- Students draw the picture in their head
Sweet Retelling- Students draw/write about first, next, then and last
Author's Purpose- Students tell why the author wrote the book and how they know
What's that Word- Students write 2 new words, what they think it means, and how they know
Word Wall Hunt- Students find words in their book from your classroom word wall
Be The Teacher- Students write 3 questions about their topic and ask a friend. Then they teach their friend the answer
My Schema- Students write about their schema in the circle map
New Learning- Students write/draw 2 new things they learned
Question and Answers- Students write 3 questions before reading, and read to find the answer
My Misconceptions- Students write about a misconception they had and what they know now
Text Feature Hunt- Students find 2 text features and tell what they learned from it
Santa's Sweet Facts- Students write 4 new facts they learned from the text
I will definitely model these for my students before they do them independently. This is a great way to differentiate...some sheets are more challenging than others, and some can be done with just drawing (and no writing).
