Who doesn’t like to pretend they are a Secret Agent with a Code to Crack? Our students just love this activity!
December Secret Message Drawing Center Activity.
Beginning Sound Practice
These Activities are aligned with:
CCSS RF.K.2d-isolate and pronounce the initial, medial, and final sounds. We made this Activity Center to give the children a fun and exciting way to practice fluency in beginning sound recognition. We want to make sure that we focused on and had isolated skill practice with Beginning Sounds in words. This can be used in Independent Instruction, whole group, small group, a literacy center or as homework practice. Great for Differentiated Instruction.
We model how to use the Decoder and fill in the secret message with the whole class, then let them have fun with it. We like to give the children a small Detective Magnifying Glass when they use this—- props make everything fun!!
After the students have Cracked the Code they have to draw the Secret Message!!
How much fun it that!
We have included 2 types of printables:
one set with the Secret Decoder Key on them and one set without the secret Decoder Key on them
Give your students practice with the printables with the Secret Decoder Key on them then let them test their beginning sound knowledge with the printables without the Secret Decoder Key on them.
These are twenty Secret Message printables with or without the Secret Message Decoder Key.
We hope that you find them a useful tool in your Teaching Toolbox
