This product includes a math and literacy activity to place in a sensory table. Both activities are blackline masters and can be printed on colored paper. There are many differentiated options ideal for Kindergarten students. Here are the activites:
1. Christmas Tree / Ornament Numbers. For this activity, print the ornaments on colored paper, laminate, cut and place in a Christmas themed sensory bin. Students pick a card, identify the number and complete their recording sheet. They might be coloring the correct number of ornaments on the tree, drawing the ornaments and writing the number on a tree, or picking two ornaments, comparing the numbers, and then drawing/writing the greater number on a tree. There is a blank ornament card page included, if needed.
2. Christmas Light Literacy. For this center, I color code my lights and worksheets. This helps my students remember which color lights to choose from the sensory table. For example, this is what I do:
Low group - copy lights and recording sheet on red paper
Middle groups - copy lights and recording sheet on yellow paper
High group - copy lights and recording sheet on green paper
You may choose to use different colored paper. I then, laminate and cut out the bulbs out and place them in a sensory bin. Higher level students are reading the CVC words and writing the word in the real or nonsense word column. Lower level students are identifying and writing the letters from their light bulb. *All letters are included, just in the order my district introduces them. Students that fall in the middle, are picking a light bulb, identifying the first sound and writing the correct first letter on their recording sheet. A blank light bulb card page is included at the end, if needed.
