Holiday Writing Activity - North Pole House for Sale - Grades 2-5

In this December Holiday writing activity, students will use their knowledge of persuasive, descriptive and creative writing to convince the reader to buy a house from them. The catch: It's located in the North Pole!

Your students will be directed to create an informational booklet to describe every detail of a house in the North Pole. As the #1 Real Estate Agent in the country, they’re expected to SELL IT! Can they do it?!

Winter Writing Activity - The Story of a Snowflake - Grades 3-5

In this narrative nonfiction writing activity, students will write a book from the perspective of a snowflake! Their story begins as a raindrop, travels through the water cycle stages, and ends with the snowflake falling gracefully from the sky. But don't worry, your writers will reassure readers that the snowflake will continue the cycle again and again!

This is a fun, creative and informative writing activity for winter, and a great interactive display idea for your bulletin board! It also hits several Writing standards across grades 3-5 ...#score

Students will love taking on the voice of a snowflake, it will inspire even your most reluctant writers to pick up their pencil and write!

Important Note: Students will need to understand the water cycle and be able to use the scientific terms correctly (ex: precipitation, condensation, water vapor, etc.). They will also need to know how a snowflake forms. There are lots of informational resources out there to teach about the water cycle! This project works best when students have already learned this concept.
