Monthly Writing Contests or Writing Celebrations are a great way to encourage positive attitudes about writing and strong home/school/community connections. Distribute and explain December's Writing Contest: Toys: Now and Then. Students will think and write and about their favorite toy or game and then interview a family member and write about their favorite childhood toy or game.
