Downhill Decimals ~ Reading and Rounding Decimals
The goal of this activity is to help students build fluency in reading and rounding decimals. Decimals included up to and including the thousandths place to read and round.
Chill Out with Decimals ~ Making and Writing Decimals in Word Form
The goal of this activity is to create decimal numbers that fit the criteria on the task cards. Students create, say, and write decimals in word form or expanded form.
“Snow” Better Way to Get There ~ Making and Ordering Decimals
The goal of this activity is to fill in all the spaces from start to finish on the game board by
♦ rolling two number cubes
♦ creating a decimal
♦ writing the decimals in the spaces.
Decimals CANNOT be changed once added to the game board.
Here comes the challenge…from start to finish ALL decimals MUST be ordered from least to greatest! Place the game boards in a plastic sleeve and students can reuse the same game board using different decimals. Challenge: Use three number cubes.
Operation Hot Chocolate ~ Add and subtract 0.1 and 0.01
The goal of this activity is to be the first player to collect all the ingredients and make a cup of hot chocolate that matches the picture card by adding and subtracting 0.1 and 0.01 to decimal numbers.
Spin-a-Snowman ~ Multiply and Divide Decimals by 10 and 100
The goal of this activity is to be the first player to build a snowman that matches the picture card by multiplying and dividing decimals by 10 and 100.
Some preparation for the activities is required prior to student use.
