I don't know about you, but every year when I introduce decimal numbers to my 4th graders, there are a consistent couple of misconceptions about them that they start out with. I'm not sure where these misconceptions come from, but we work hard every year to clear them up, i.e. some students think that a decimal number is a negative number. This 2 page document was created to help students develop a stronger sense of exactly what a decimal is. It will help them to VISUALIZE that they are small numbers that are less than one but greater than zero and so much more!
-1 page that shows base ten block models through the thousands place and over to the hundredths place (there are 3 on there to help save on copies and to make then small enough to fit in your students' notebooks)
-1 page that focuses on just the ones place and the decimal side- has fill in the blank statements for the students to fill in as you discuss
These can also be printed as posters and hung up in your classroom.
This product is also sold as part of a bundle in my store.
