This number line will serve as a classroom reference tool, providing students with a foundation of the counting progression of decimals. Because decimal notation is difficult for students to understand in both word and number form, this decimal number line has been created with base ten block representations to help students see the size of each decimal number. The zeros on the end of the decimals are barely visible to support students’ understanding that the zeros have no value on the end of a decimal number. Optional word cards are included. These word cards can be attached above the numbers when the number line is hung up in a classroom or students can attach them during class discussion.
• Print this number line and word cards onto card stock. I recommend laminating the number line as well especially if you plan on sticking the word cards onto the number line.
• When hung, the number line will be approximately 41 feet long.
