Place Value Power is a great math center activity that will help students practice making decimal numbers larger or smaller by powers of ten. Understanding these place value relationships is critical to students using mental math strategies as well as understanding computational algorithms.
Students will use the included number cards to create the largest possible decimal number. Then, students will make the number they created ten times larger, one hundred times larger, ten times smaller, and one hundred times smaller. Students can work on this independently or in pairs.
This activity is quick and easy to put together for a fun and helpful math center.
