The Decimal Olympics is a math activity that gets students moving through a series of exercises while competing against the rest of their group. After completing a variety of "Decimal Olympic Events", students figure out their final order using decimal ordering. Additionally, students can have some practice adding decimals to compare their team results to those of the rest of the class.
This activity is quick and easy to print off, and the students can get started on it very quickly. We have added it into our weekly schedule for our phys. ed. block that we don't have access to the gym, or during indoor recesses. My students have really enjoyed this activity and have been getting extra practice ordering decimals.
Groups will need some form of timing device that times to the hundredth to do this activity as is. If you have access to Chromebooks or Ipads, you could use an online timer as well.
