Decimal Place Value Lineup deepens understanding of decimal place value with an engaging and cooperative method. Each student in a group is given a decimal card and the group cooperatively decides how to correctly line themselves up least to greatest/greatest to least. When each group shows their cards to the class, the other students decide whether the students have lined themselves up correctly and, if not, realign themselves to reflect the correct place value order.
Directions for two different methods to do this activity are included.
There are five sets of six cards. Print out the decimal cards using cardstock, then laminate for repeat use. You can also laminate the cover sheet provided, and then attach to a file folder to keep all materials handy.
This decimal activity is aligned with 5th Grade CCSS but works well in fourth grade and is helpful as a review for sixth graders.
