This activity will help students practice developing conceptual understanding of how decimals are related to number lines.
- 12 task cards
*The task cards include identifying, naming, and labeling specific points on a number line (to the tenths and hundredths)
- Student record sheet with questions for each task card
This is how I used the task cards:
Partner Hopping Decimal Practice (partner practice)
1) Students will start at one desk and work on their specific task card with their partner in the given time (I usually set up a timer). They will record their answer on their answer document.
2) When the timer goes off, students will ‘hop’ to another desk to solve the next task card.
*Encourage students to COMMUNICATE and WORK TOGETHER
These task cards can be used to supplement any of your place value decimal lessons. Use them with your small groups, use them as math game centers, use them as whole group games, etc.
*this game will allow students to practice applying their knowledge of place value (decimals) in a way that is very practical and engaging!
