Product Description
Next level...understanding magnitudes...where the decimal is located between two whole numbers.

With a small amounts of practice, the kiddos get good at this...and develop number sense of decimals.

Again, equate to money...3.42....3 dollars and 42 cents. 42 cents away from 3 bucks...or 0.42. 8 pennies away from 3.50 or 0.08. 58 pennies away from 4 dollars or 0.58.

Making 10 and 100 GREATLY assist in this process...teach the kiddos to add up to the nearest to 10...then to 100. Given: 0.34 ---- 6 pennies to 40 cents (Making 10)...0.06 Then, 6 dimes or 60 pennies to 1.00 (Making 100)...0.60 or 0.6. Hence, the total is 0.06 + 0.6 equalling 0.66 to 4 dollars. Same thing to 50 cents...

With practice and explaining this process both visually and auditory, every single student adapts to the process.

Good luck.
