This product includes a Found Poetry lesson using the original words of the Declaration of Independence.
Found Poetry is a type of poetry taking words and phrases from other sources and reframing them as poetry by making changes in spaces and lines, or by adding or deleting text, thus giving new meaning. It is great for using with primary source documents and perfectly integrates Social Studies, Reading, and Writing.
You will receive:
a week’s worth of daily lesson plans; a highlighted copy of The Declaration of Independence to use as a model for this Found Poetry unit; an example of Found Poetry taken from key words and phrases in The Declaration of Independence; a blank copy of The Declaration of Independence for students to use in their discussion and to mark on for their own Found Poetry; and a template for students to write their poems on.
Students will be engaged while their understanding of the Declaration of Independence is deepened.
