Product Description
Ever been dumped? Been sent a Dear John/Jill letter? That is basically what the Declaration of Independence was. This three day lesson gets the students to understand what the Declaration was and why it was so important. The lesson starts out with a class discussion of break ups, famous or personal, and then links this to the Declaration and the student translating the document and then defending the reasons for the colonies to leave the United Kingdom.

This three day lesson is aligned to the MN history standards as well as the National U.S. history standards.
