This student reading handout will guide students through reading an excerpt from the Seneca Falls Convention's Declaration of Sentiments. I use it after having introduced the various reform movements of the early 1800s.
I like to read the handout with students under a document camera while modeling good processing for students by asking prompting questions and thinking aloud as I highlight, summarize, define terms, and make connections to prior knowledge while annotating the text.
This document is obviously well-suited for making connections to students' earlier studies of the Declaration of Independence.
Students then answer four text-based questions on the back. A grading rubric is included.
