Decoding Assessment for One-Syllable Words

Description
Here’s a free decoding assessment for one-syllable phonetically regular words. It’s suitable for determining an instructional starting point for your kindergarten, first, and second-grade students. It is designed to be administered orally to individual students.
This assessment correlates with my phonetic word list resources, available in either a superhero or hedgehog theme.
There are 12 black/ white lists with 20 words covering short, long, r-controlled, and diphthong vowel patterns. As much as possible, the words selected for these lists are not common ones for this age group. This keeps the focus on decoding. There is a student copy and a teacher copy for each list.
This resource was crafted by Judy, a teacher with a master’s degree and more than 35 years of teaching experience.
