~ 2nd grade level game. Students should know the following sounds: ee, ea, ing, ed, qu, and ch. They should also be able to count syllables and sounds, and decode 1 or 2 syllable base words with -ing or -ed endings.
Directions: Print and laminate the game board. Cut the provided words into strips and place in a pile face down. One player draws a word and colors in any of the squares on the board that pertain to her word. For example, if a player draws "teasing," she can color in an "ea" square, an "ing" square, a "2 syllable" square, and a "4 sounds" square. Stars are bonus squares. Get creative with these! The first person with 5 in a row colored in, a whole row colored in, etc. wins!
