Decomposing Numbers 5 - 10
What is Build It and Break It?
"Build and break" creates different ways to represent a number. Students "build" a specific number using snap cubes and then "break" the cubes into 2 parts. Students then record the addition sentence (a number equation and a sentence is both included -- so 2 sets for each number).
This activity is correlated with Common Core standard CCSS.Math.Content.K.OA.A.3
