Students can practice decomposing numbers from 5-10. They will fill the counting board with cubes, counters, and fish, or what. They then count to see how many they needed and write that number in the box by more. Then they will write the number sentence that tells about the counters. This is great practice to be able to really understand number combinations.
I cut these sheets in half and grouped them by the decomposing number. I put a ring around all the 5’s and 6’s, etc. so that the student can work on just one number at a time. They love to use different kinds of little erasers. On the 5’s they use ladybug erasers. For the 6’s they use bunny erasers. For the 7’s they use rocket erasers. For 8’s they use apple erasers. For 9’s they use duck erasers.
