A fun and engaging way to use number cups in your classroom.
These cups are easy to make and the kids will love them.
*Using Styrofoam cups, chenille stems and beads, create sets of number cups 2-10. I made 5 of each number for centers.
*The first 2 pages are designed for higher level students and can be printed in black and white and back to back to save on paper.
*The next set of pages are designed for those students just beginning to decompose numbers. Copy the pages you will need in black and white. You can copy pages back to back and staple for a booklet or just hand out single pages to meet students needs.
I included an extra set of cup pages for 7-10 ( only 3 on a sheet) for those students who will need larger cups to draw their beads on. Just replace the first set of number cup pages 7-10 with the bigger set of number cup pages for easier recording. I copied those pages back to back so my students could make more combinations of the number.
*Directions- Have the students select a number cup to match their recording sheet. Students will then separate the beads into two groups on either side of the cup and record their work.
Ex. Cup number 6 (3 beads on one side and 3 beads on the other) Draw the beads on the cup to match and record 3+3 on the line. Students continue to decompose the number on the cup and record their work. Draw beads with colored pencils or fine tipped markers.
*If using the higher level sheets. Students can select the number cup they are working on and record the different ways to make each number by separating the beads into two groups and recording their work under each number cup.
Ex. Cup number 6 (3+3, 5+1, 4+2, 6+0, 0+6, 1+5, 2+4)
