This product was designed after watching students in my classroom learn from memory all of the parts of numbers through 10, and yet not apply that knowledge to help them when solving problems. It is meant to guide students through choosing the parts of a number that help them the most for the problem being solved. There is a variety of resources included: computation with picture support, computation without picture support, story problems, and games for practice. Right now, this resource includes practice for applying the parts of 5 and 6 for addition and subtraction, and the parts of 7 for addition. I plan to expand it to include parts of numbers through 10. This resource was designed to connect to the work of Kathy Richardson.
