Description

This unit is packed with lessons, centers, printables and lots of easy to make hands-on activities that focus on decomposing (or breaking down) numbers. The activities focus on numbers to 10 and numbers to 20. Simply add simple math manipulatives such as dominoes (or materials from around your house including buttons and beads) and you will have ready to use activities.

Here's what's included:

- Decompose numbers poster

- "Sticky Numbers" -> read the number sentence and find the matching numeral

- "CRASH" -> a matching game

- "Apple Picking" -> complete the 10-frames by adding buttons/beads/pom poms (numbers 1-10)

- "Bus Stop 10-frames" -> explore ways to create numbers in the teens (11-20) by using double 10-frames

- "Roll 'Em" -> roll the dot die and place it where it completes the numeral

- "Domino Breakdown" -> lots of ways to play! Use dominoes (or print the ones included in various sizes), sort the dominoes accordingly

- "Break Apart that Number!" -> use the mats to show how a number can be broken apart (add buttons/beads/pom poms)

- "Who Stole the Cookie?" -> count the chocolate chips on the cookies to form a number
